Η περιπέτειά σας σας περιμένει

At 2,456 metres, the summit of Psiloritis is the highest point in Crete and one of the highest peaks in Greece. Getting there on foot is a serious half-day commitment, and that is exactly the point. This hiking day trip is built around a single, clear goal: reach the top, take in what can only be seen from up there, and come back down on your own two feet. The route starts at the Migeros Plateau at 1,581 metres, already well above the treeline. The path climbs steadily across open alpine terrain before joining the E4 European long-distance trail for the final push to the peak. The landscape at this altitude is stripped back and quiet: bare rock, wide sky, and sightlines that stretch in every direction. At the summit, a small stone chapel built from the mountain itself marks the highest point on the island. From here the view opens into a full 360-degree panorama. Dikti mountain rises to the east, the Libyan Sea stretches south with the islands of Paximadia and Gavdos on the horizon, the White Mountains close the western view, and the northern coast of Crete lies below you in the other direction. On a clear day there is nowhere higher to stand in Crete. Your guide knows this mountain well, leads the route in English, carries a first aid kit, and photographs the day so you have a record of the climb. The group rests at the summit for 30 to 40 minutes before beginning the descent back to the plateau. This is a physically demanding experience. A minimum age of 14 applies, and guests with knee, leg, or heart conditions are not able to join. Good fitness and proper footwear are not optional here. If you are ready for the effort, the summit delivers something no beach club or coastal cruise can: the whole of Crete laid out beneath you in silence.
