While July and August are the most popular months, the best time to visit Crete is during the shoulder months of May–June and September–October. The weather is warm, the sea is perfect for swimming, and the crowds are significantly smaller. Spring brings wildflowers ideal for hiking, and autumn offers warmer seas plus the grape and olive harvests.
